He graduated from Hampton University Magna Cum Laude in the Spring of 2006. He also holds his Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary

Reverend Hughes acknowledged his call to the ministry in the Fall of 2008. He was blessed to receive his license to preach from the Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia in 2009 under Reverend Dr. James H. Harris, Senior Pastor.

Reverend Hughes was ordained at the Bright Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, where he served as interim Youth Minister.

In October 28 2013, he was called to serve as the 5th Pastor of the Church of the Redeemer Baptist.  Under his leadership the church continued to move forward in God.

Reverend Hughes now serves as Co-Leader at Reid Temple's newest Offsite Ministry Location in Laurel, Md, New Life Laurel.  Reverend Hughes is excited about all that God has done and is doing, but he continues to look forward to that which God has to come! He sincerely believes as scripture records in I Corinthians 2:9 “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (NKJV)

leadership, the church has experienced congregational revitalization and expanded kingdom witness.

Rev. Fomby is a native of Washington, D.C. and received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from the University of Maryland. She then completed her Master of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary with a focus on African American Church Studies. Additionally, she has studied at the Faith and Leadership Institute at Duke University. In addition to her educational background, she has nobly served her country in the United States Air force. She has been recognized for her decorated military service and has received various honors of distinction.

Rev. Fomby is the founder of Sequoia Ministries based in the Washington, DC

metropolitan area. Through this ministry, she has proven to be fully committed  to liberating lives, encouraging hearts, and inspiring hope through the faithful

proclamation of God’s word.

Rev. Fomby received The Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 16 at the New Covenant

Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., under Bishop A. Norris Smith. She received

ordination as Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in April 2007 and Itinerant Elder orders in April 2009.

Rev. Fomby has a heart for seeing people reach their full potential in Christ.

She firmly believes that she has come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord. It is not clear all that God will do through her, but she is certainly a voice for such a time as this. She is encouraged daily by Philippians 1:6, “ ….being confident of this very thing that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
